3 What is the difference between "Express Registration" and "Search and Register for classes"?
Use Express Registration when you know the section number of the class you want to register for. Use the Search and Register option if you first need to research the classes available to you
4 What is the definition of a course prefix, number and section number?
Using Freshman English I as an example (ENC 1101-43257): A course prefix is the three letter grouping such as ENC; the course number is the number of that course, such as 1101; the section number is the five digit number specific to each course, such as 43257. The section number is critical in registering for classes; it represents the time, date and location associated with a specific class in a specific semester.
5 How do I register for a course?
Choose the "Register for Sections" option from the "For Students" menu page and follow directions as indicated.
6 How do I select a course?
Click in the small white box under the column "Select Course(s)” that correlates to the course you wish to register for.
7 What should I do if I changed my mind and do not want to take the classes I registered for?
If you do not want the classes you registered for, you must officially drop the class(es) before the published drop deadline or you will be responsible for payment of those classes. You will still have the option of withdrawing from the classes; however, your tuition will not be refunded to you. The deadline dates for both options can be found in the HCC Catalog and the Operational Calendar.
8 How do I drop or withdraw a class?
Choose the "Drop/Withdraw Sections" option from the "For Students" menu page and follow directions as indicated.
9 What is the difference between dropping a class and withdrawing from a class?
|
Dropping a class reimburses or refunds your tuition for that class and erases the class from your transcript-you are not charged with an attempt for that class. A withdrawal does not grant reimbursement and the class counts as an attempt. The class will be reflected on your transcript and a "W" will be reflected instead of a grade.
IMPORTANT: Refer to the HCC catalog or Operational Calendar for published deadline dates to drop and withdraw form a class or classes. IN ADDITION: If you receive financial aid, consult the financial aid office prior to dropping or withdrawing to determine if/how dropping or withdrawing will affect your financial aid. If you are utilizing veteran's benefits or are an international student, consult the Admissions, Registration & Records office to determine the possible impact of dropping or withdrawing. |
