Magnetic Resonance Imaging FAQs

Q: Who is eligible for this program?

A: ARRT-registered radiographers, radiation therapists or nuclear medicine technologists or equivalent (NMTCB) registration.

Q: How many students are accepted each year?

A: The MRI program capacity is 16 students. Please see “Admissions” on the MRI Home page for information on admission to the MRI program.

Q: When does the program start?

A: A new cohort begins in the fall term each year and ends in the summer.

Q: When is the application deadline?

A: The application deadline is April 15 of each year.

Q: I am currently enrolled in a program and will not graduate until July. Can I apply for the program before I graduate?

A: If a prospective applicant is enrolled in a HCC imaging program with the expectation of completion and board certification prior to the start of the MRI program, the student must provide proof of good-standing in said program and express intent to comply with board certification AND Florida Licensure before the start of the MRI program.

The student that is unable to provide proof of National Certification by the ARRT or NMTCB AND proof of application for Florida licensure at or before the start of classes will forfeit his/her seat in the MRI program for that year (fall cohort).

Q: When I complete this program, what will this certificate allow me to do?

A: Upon completion of the program you will be eligible to complete the Postprimary Pathway Certification Examination offered by the ARRT for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
