Todd Huffman, Interim Head Coach

Education:

The University of Dubuque: Dubuque, Iowa Master of Arts in Communication (MAC)

Capital University: Columbus, Ohio Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

 

 

Experience:

Coach Todd Huffman enters his first season as an Assistant Coach with the Hillsborough Community College Hawks Men’s Basketball Program. Coach Huffman Brings fifteen years of Coaching experience at the NCAA D-II, D-III, Junior College, and High School Varsity Levels.

Prior to his position at HCC, Coach Huffman served as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at William V. Fisher Catholic in Lancaster, Ohio. During the 2009-2010 season, Coach Huffman guided his Irish to an Ohio State Sectional Playoff Appearance. In addition, his season produced one Honorable Mention All State Division IV Selection, two 1st Team All Central District, and two 1st Team All mid State Cardinal Division selections.

Before his position at William V. Fisher Catholic, Coach Huffman served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Program founder, at Northern New Mexico College in Santa Fe, New Mexico during the 2008-2009 season.

Prior to his position at NNMC, Coach Huffman served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at NCAA D-II Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois during the 2007-2008 season.

Before his position at Lewis University, Coach Huffman served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Dubuque in Iowa. From 2002-2007, his teams established or tied 45 school records while making three consecutive Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament appearances.

Prior to his position at UD, Coach Huffman served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at NCAA D-III Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. During the 2000-2002 seasons at Eastern, Coach Huffman guided his team to their first ever Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Southern Division Championship. In addition, Coach Huffman had several ALL-PAC and ALL-Academic Conference selections.

Prior to his position at Eastern University, Coach Huffman served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at The Ohio State University-Newark Regional Campus in Newark, Ohio. During the 1997-1999 seasons, the Titans captured the Ohio Regional Campus Conference Title and State Runner-Up honors. The post-season honors included, a 2-time ORCC Conference Player of the Year, four All-ORCC Conference first team and two Honorable Mention selections.

Coach Huffman is a Professor of Speech Communication at the HCC-South Shore Campus and a Native of Columbus, Ohio. Currently he resides in Tampa, Florida.

Leonard Allen, Assistant Coach

Coach Allen played 2 years at Iowa Central Community College.  Over the two years he played there he averaged 20 points per game. He was selected as one of the top five juco players in the Midwest by Street and Smith Magazine.

After two years in junior college, Coach Allen transferred to Iowa State University and played there from 1976-1978. During the 1976-1977 season, he lead the team in scoring. He averaged 20 points per game in contests against Kansas University and scored a career high of 32 points during that season.

Coach Allen has coached AAU basketball in the Tampa area since 2002. Initially, coaching younger boys until 2006 and then began to coach high school boys.  He has coached teams to several tournament wins during his AAU coaching career. Most recently Coast to Coast, 2010 Super Regional, Disney Memorial Day Classic, Best of the South 2010 runner up, and 3rd place at the AAU Nationals in the classic bracket. In all of these tournaments his teams competed at the 17U level.

Some of the top local talent that he has coached and which are currently playing collegiately includes:  Luke Loucks- Florida State University, Adam Salazzo- East Tennessee State, Jake Troyli- Presbyterian/ Lincoln Memorial, Cam Carden- Stetson University/ Lincoln Memorial, Blake Allen- Youngstown State University, Preston Fredrick- Florida Southern University, and Tyler Auerbacher- North Florida University/ Weber International University.  Other local talented players that he has coached  include: AJ Astroth, Xavier Owens, Andre Nation, and Kieffer Jordan.

Coach Allen is married to Alicia Allen and has two sons, Leonard III and Blake.  He born in Flint, MI and moved to Tampa in 1984. Coach Allen completed his education at the University of South Florida earning a Bachelors Degree.
