Gary Larkin, Head Coach - Womens Volleyball

After working as an assistant in 2002, Gary Larkin was named Head Coach of the Lady Hawks in 2003.  Larkin is also English Program Manager and a full-time instructor of writing and English literature at HCC.  He holds a BA in English Literature from Boston College, where he was a student athlete in the sport of lacrosse, and an MA in creative writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2008, HCC completed its first undefeated conference season and finished the year 8th in the nation, and Larkin was named AVCA Two Year College Northeast/Southeast Region Coach of the Year. In 2007, the Lady Hawks won the Gulf District Championship and participated in the NJCAA National Championship.  In 2006, the Lady Hawks won the FCCAA State Championship and participated in the NJCAA National Tournament. Larkin has also been named FCCAA Coach of the Year, District H Coach of the Year, Suncoast Conference Coach of the Year, and USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Outstanding Male Coach.  He is also Associate Director of Tampa United Volleyball Club. Away from the court, he enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and chasing his son Aidan and daughter Reina.

Monica Medvid, Associate Head Coach - Womens Volleyball

Monica has served as the HCC Volleyball Assistant Coach since 2004. Monica is an HCC Volleyball alumnus and was named Team Captain her sophomore year. In addition, she has been a head coach at both Sandspurs Volleyball Club and Tampa United Volleyball Academy since 2003. In 2007, Tampa United named Monica to the Executive Board of Directors. She is also a certified instructor for Plyocity, inc. In her spare time, Monica freelances in photography and wedding planning.

 Tony Cothron, Assistant Coach - Womens Volleyball

I have been one of the assistants at HCC the last 2 years. I am attending HCC to get my AA and then transfer to USF to get my BA in Education. I coached volleyball at the junior level for 15 years with various different clubs. I received the outstanding male player award, from the Florida region in 2002, 2003, and 2005. I have played volleyball in the Florida Region for the past 18 years. I have competed at the professional level on the beach the last 15 years and have officiated Division I and II for the past 4 years. Enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids who are also into volleyball.
