Gary Larkin, Head Coach - Womens Volleyball
After working as an assistant in 2002, Gary Larkin was named Head Coach of the Lady Hawks in 2003. Larkin is also a full-time instructor of writing and English literature at HCC. He holds a BA in English Literature from Boston College, where he was a student athlete in the sport of lacrosse, and an MA in creative writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2009, HCC won its second consecutive conference championship then went on to finish 7th in the nation at the NJCAA National Championships. HCC had its first undefeated conference season in 2008 and finished the year 8th in the nation, and Larkin was named AVCA Two Year College Northeast/Southeast Region Coach of the Year. In 2007, the Lady Hawks won the Gulf District Championship and participated in the NJCAA National Championship. In 2006, the Lady Hawks won the FCCAA State Championship on its way to the NJCAA National Championship. Larkin has also been named FCCAA Coach of the Year, District H Coach of the Year, Suncoast Conference Coach of the Year, and USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Outstanding Coach. He is also Associate Director of Tampa United Volleyball Club. Away from the court, he enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and chasing his son Aidan and daughter Reina.
