Tommy Jones embarks on his third season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach. After a successful second season that saw the Lady Hawks go 23-7 during the regular season and 10-2 in the conference to finish as conference co-champions, he is even more committed to continue the complete turn around of the program. The Lady Hawks also qualified for the JUCO State Tournament for the second time in a row since 1997.

He is very optimistic that the turn around of the program will continue because of the quality of the student athletes that he is recruiting to play for HCC.  "I think that the quality of the person, and then the quality of the player, is the order that I intend to recruit to help us reach the goals that I’ve set for this program. The expectations for this program will have to continue to rise as long as I’m here”.  I look for us to have an even better third season as long as we continue in the direction that I’ve set.

Tommy is native of Tampa, where he attended Tampa Catholic High School and was a member of their men’s basketball team. He graduated in 1982 where he then began a collegiate career at Hillsborough Community College; there he played one season under Joe Patton. He went on to graduate from The University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Sports Science.

His coaching experience includes four seasons of coaching high schools boy’s basketball, as well as eleven seasons coaching girl’s basketball in Hillsborough County. Currently he is the Head Coach of the Tampa Bay Phoenix AAU team.

Tommy is married to Kimberly Jones; they have two children Thomas and Kai.
