| SUMMIT TRACKS: |
|
Track I: Exploring and Redefining the Male Identity in the 21st Century
It is imperative for men to have a clear sense of identity in order to establish their place in society. The 21st century calls on men to be ready for challenges that often cause them to doubt and ask; do I have what it takes to succeed? This track will challenge the participant to explore the concept of identity and how it affects their path to success by redefining masculinity, manhood and academic achievement. |

Track II: Navigating, Learning and Embracing Cultural Landscapes in the 21st Century
Understanding where you have been provides a lens to where you are going. African American and Latino males often lack knowledge of their history. History can serve as motivation in ways that can inspire us today. Culture is the integration of language, religion, ethnicity, traditions, and values. Quite often, in the United States, successful individuals must move between two or more cultures however, the crisis today for minority males is at times, the inability to successfully navigate across cultural lines. Past cultural accomplishments often tell a story of struggle and pride. We invite you to share the history “lessons” that are often omitted or distorted in the textbooks. |
| |
Track III: Rebuilding the Village for the 21st Century
It takes a village to raise a child. Generations past often relied on the community to step in and provide the same guidance as family. It is imperative we rebuild the 21st century village to include community leaders, community organizations, educational institutions, family, and social media. This track will examine and define the urgency of collective social responsibility to include justice, politics, nontraditional family structure, and fatherhood. |

Track IV: 21st Century Success: Best Practices for Academic Achievement
Educators are expected to function in a leadership capacity and serve as role models for our students. Our students need a sense of security, acceptance and belonging before they know they can trust and follow your lead. Institutions of higher learning can be a place that creates a sense of family for African American and Latino men. This track allows you the opportunity to showcase best practices in career development, mentoring programs, graduate education and academic support programs that provide a positive impact on college success rates for minority males.

Each session will last 75 minutes we ask presenters to reserve at least 10 to 15 minutes at the end of the session for audience questions.
