Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance
The computer science department at the Brandon Campus is a member of Microsoft's Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA).
Computer science students have access to selected Microsoft products such as
- Visual Studio
- Visio Professional 2007
- Windows XP
- Windows Server 2008
- SQL Server 2005
- and other Microsoft development software
Students are required to sign and submit a
Student Use Agreement (Microsoft Word document).
The instructor's signature is required.

Brandon Campus Computer Lab
The Brandon Campus Computer Lab is located in BTEC 203.
- The computer lab has 40 computers for student access
- Troubleshooting assistance is provided for applications
- Printing services are provided for school-related printing
- Internet access is provided for checking email and online courses
- Regular semester hours are 8:30 am - 8:00 pm, Monday through Thursday;
8:30 am - 4:30 pm on Friday;
8:30 am - 1:30 pm on Saturday

CSTEP Program
HCC and the University of South Florida have partnered to assist minority students in transferring from an Associate degree at HCC to a Bachelor of Science degree at USF. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation.
- CSTEP stands for Computer Science Transfer Programs
- Hispanic, Puerto Rican, African-American and female students who are enrolled in an AA or AS Computer Science or Engineering degree at HCC are encouraged to participate in the program
- Students must be planning to transfer to USF for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- While at HCC, students in the program can receive support and academic guidance from their very own faculty mentor

According to the 2008-09 Occupational Outlook Handbook, the computer scientist occupation is expected to grow 37 percent from 2006 to 2016, much faster than average for all occupations.
