| The Chemistry Program at HCC Brandon offers a full range of courses to support students intending to pursue a wide variety of majors in science and health-related fields. The CHM1025/CHM1025L courses are the “introductory” chemistry courses for students who did not take advanced chemistry in high school. The CHM1045/CHM1045L and CHM1046/CHM1046L courses are the sequence many students will need for their non-chemistry science majors. The organic chemistry sequence, CHM2210/CHM2210L and CHM2211/CHM2211L are the courses needed for most biological science, chemistry, pharmacy, and medical majors. The Brandon Science Department maintains two fully equipped general chemistry laboratories with full computer interfaced instrumentation capabilities at the student workstations. In addition to the general chemistry labs, the department also has a state of the art dedicated organic chemistry laboratory equipped with a gas chromatograph. A separate instrumentation lab with advanced sampling, preparation, and analysis capabilities including UV and IR spectrophotometry, chromatography, and gel electrophoresis is jointly maintained with the Biotechnology Program. |
