MISSION:
To provide health Pre-Professional students with guidance and resources to assist with preparation for Health Professional Schools. *

- Pre-Physical Therapy
GOALS:
- To provide guests speakers to address professional school issues and life as a health-care professional
Guests speakers will include:
- Individuals working in the health field
- Students enrolled in professional schools
- Individuals knowledgeable in the areas of financial aid and scholarships
- Individuals knowledgeable in the areas of the application and testing process.
- To develop a peer support group for health pre-professional students.
- To provide community service opportunities for students.
- To create opportunities for leadership and for working in conjunction with the Student Government Organization (SGA).
- To provide a pre-professional school resource center (on-campus and virtually).
*PLEASE NOTE: HPPO is not exclusively for health pre-professional students. Any student interested in a club dedicated to community service and excellence in academics is welcome to join.
Organization Requirements:
Grade Point Average:
GPA for admittance: 3.25
GPA for maintaining Active Status: 3.0
-If you are a first time in college student or first time at HCC student and do not have an HCC GPA, please provide your high school/previous school GPA.
-If you do not meet the GPA requirements but are close or have circumstances that led to a lower GPA, you may write a letter explaining your current GPA and why you believe your GPA will be improving. The HPPO board will review your letter and make a decision about recommending you for membership. A probation period may be required.
Attendance Requirements for Active Member Status:
* Attend a minimum of 2 meetings per semester * Attend a minimum of 1 speaker presentation per semester * Participate in 1 on-campus event *Participate in 1 major event *Participate in 2 HPPO sponsored community service projects per semester; In addition, members must participate in the major community service project at the end of the year (Senior Prom for Seniors).
*For students who go above and beyond these requirements, HPPO has a formal recognition program. Members achieving Active, Silver Star & Gold Star Member status will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony in December and the May.
Dues/Application Fee:
Application Fee = $ 5.00 (One time fee)
Yearly Dues = $ 10.00
