Do
I need a College Degree to enter the Design/Construction field?
In order to become licensed in the fields of Architecture, Contracting,
Engineering or Interior Design you must have a College degree. The level
of degree varies with the field of study. All can start at HCC. HCC Architecture
students can now transfer into a four-year degreed program at USF –
leading to a Masters in Architecture degree.
Are there jobs available in these fields?
Yes, the construction industry is looking for motivated and educated people
in all fields of study, most of our students have job offers before they
graduate.

Architectural Design and Construction Technology Programs - AA/AS/AAS
AS Degree in Architectural Design and Construction Technology - AS.ADCT/AAS.ADCT
(66 Credit Hours)
This program will prepare students for a position as a construction planner
or as an assistant to an architect or an architectural engineer in the
planning and designing of structures, using construction materials and
working with contracts and specifications. If students pass the contractor’s
exam, they may become self-employed as contractors.
The course work in this program focuses on using the latest technology
to solve problems faced by the architect, the engineer, and building contractor
as they apply to the planning and construction of buildings.
AA Degree in Architecture - AA.ARC
(72 Credit hours)
This program will prepare students seeking to become licensed
Architects. The first two years of academic study will lead to
a transfer to an upper division College Bachelors and Masters Degree Program in
Architecture.
AA Degree in Building Construction - AA.BCN
(60 Credit Hours)
This program is for a two year degree that transfers to the
University of Florida’s Construction Management Program, at
both the Bachelors and Masters level.
