FAQS
What qualities should a student posses in order to succeed in this
program?
- Students who enjoy working with their hands
as well as their minds do very well in this program. No prior construction/design
experience is required, we do have many students who enroll alter having worked
in the construction industry. If you enjoy figuring out how something works,
or how it could work better, the ADCT Program maybe your best choice.
What
does the ADCT Program consist of?
- A carefully planned sequence of courses takes
the student through building materials, building systems and finally building
design. Both manual and CADD courses are included, along with material testing
and surveying. One of the required courses is an internship in a firm type
of the students choice. This has proven very useful in placing students upon
graduation.
What type of work will I be required to produce?
- You will be producing manual and CADD drawings of building systems and of
your own residential and commercial sized designs. We use AutoCadd 2000
for our CADD courses.
- Model building is an option for many courses, we also build a fill size
residential floor, wall and roof system, as well as laying brick and concrete
block walls. This “hands-on” experience and formal classroom training give
the student a sense of the range of opportunities available in the design
and construction fields. Click on the items below for more information.
