HCC’s dedication to engaging the community extends beyond its committee and SL faculty and students. This manifests itself through programs such as the College Reach-Out Program, designed to increase the number of disadvantaged secondary school students who will pursue a postsecondary education. The culture is also reflected in the widespread involvement of our employees in the Heartwalk, United Way, and campus beautification events. The Veterinary Science program partners with animal services agencies to provide shelter animals with quality care at free or reduced rates. Each year cadets within the Law Enforcement Academy assist with food drives by collecting and delivering donations to Metropolitan Ministries, one of the largest social services agencies in Hillsborough County. Each HCC campus hosts a variety of student clubs providing educational opportunities through real world experiences while serving the public.
Finally, HCC obtained a Title III grant and a Title V Strengthening Institutions, Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program Grant. The grants will help increase the completion rates of Hispanic and at-risk student populations and assist students to master high-risk courses in mathematics and sciences.
