Successful transfer of credits to other degree programs. Acceptance into higher degree programs:

Approximately 70% of program graduates go on for study at the bachelor's level in a discipline related to human services. This number has been consistent over the past three academic years.

The program has transfer arrangements with several local colleges and universities, and the program's credits are readily accepted by these institutions.

Job placement rates in human services-related occupations:

Based on data collected for the program's latest reaccreditation, which was submitted to the Council for Standards in Human Services Education (CSHSE) in February of 2012, 68% of responding graduates indicated that they were employed in the field of human services.

Further, 50% of those employed had found employment in less than 3 months. 97% of responding graduates indicated that the skills they learned in the Counseling & Human Services Program were the skills needed to perform effectively in their jobs.

  Agency/employer feedback on student performance:

The ratings listed below were provided by 22 local social service agencies that hire and that provide internship placements for Counseling & Human Services students. This data was collected for the 2012 CSHSE reaccreditation.

41% rated HCC students as better or much better in academic preparation than those from other local academic programs.

72% rated HCC students as better or much better in clinical preparation than those from other programs.

86% rated HCC students as better or much better in professional attitude and behavior than those from other programs.

95% of those who had hired our graduates would hire another program graduate.

100% of the agencies responding to the survey would recommend the Counseling & Human Services Program at HCC to those interested in pursuing education in Human Services.

Human Services graduate follow-up surveys, which are directed to both graduates and their employers:

Surveys of program graduates and their employers are conducted every 5 years as part of the process for national reaccreditation by the Council for Standards in Human Service Education.

These surveys are most important in assuring that the program is teaching the knowledge and skills necessary for successful employment and for success in advanced education.
