Prerequisite Courses
The following prerequisite courses will be required of all Dental Hygiene applicants:
Freshman English I - ENC 1101
Human Anatomy & Physiology I - BSC 1085
Human Anatomy & Physiology I Lab - BSC 1085L
Human Anatomy & Physiology II - BSC 1086
Human Anatomy & Physiology II Lab - BSC 1086L
College Algebra- MAC 1105 OR Liberal Arts Math I-MGF 1106
Microbiology & Human Disease - MCB 1000
Microbiology Lab - MCB 1000L
Chemistry for Health Sciences - CHM 1032
Chemistry for Health Sciences Lab - CHM 1032L
Fundamentals of Human Nutrition, Introduction to Sociology and General Psychology, Public Speaking and any Humanities Course are additional general education requirements. These courses are required for graduation and may be taken while enrolled in the program, however, it is recommended that they be completed in advance
HCC Health Science Programs do not maintain waiting lists for students hoping to gain entry, rather, candidates are ranked according to their prerequisite GPA. Selections are based on the number of available seats and this GPA ranking.

General Education Requirements
The following course must be taken in the fall or spring of the students first year:
HUN 2201 Fundementals/ Human Nutrition
3 credits
Additional required general education courses may be taken in advance or after admission to the dental hygiene program and must be completed with a grade of C or higher prior to graduation.
PSY 2012 General Psychology
3 credits
SPC 1600 Public Speaking
3 credits
SYG 2000 Introduction to Sociology
3 credits
Any Elective Course from Humanities Area
3 credits
Total Credits 12
