Craft Beer Series

Craft beer is booming in America right now, and nowhere is having such an explosive growth as Tampa Bay. New breweries and brewpubs are popping up all over, and exciting, delicious craft beers are appearing on menus and in bars across the Bay. But what is "craft beer"? Why is it growing in visibility? And what is the history of the world's most popular beverage?

Come learn about beer and its origins, from the ancient ales of Egypt and the Aztecs, to the science behind fermentation with our experts and professionals in the field. And of course, we could not hold classes about beer without some sampling!

Join us for tasting, discussions, and education on the drink that changed the world!

The 2015 Spring/Summer Schedule is coming soon!

Beer 101 - A tasty tour of what makes beer what it is. We will discuss – as we taste – the ingredients of beer: Malt, Hops, Water, and Yeast and how each influences beer styles. Learn the proper pouring techniques, appropriate glassware, and basic food pairings.

Ancient Ales and Modern Innovators - Take a trip around the world and sample recipes discovered in the tombs of ancient kings, pharaohs and other legendary sources. Learn about the innovative brewers recreating these historic beers and how they influence craft beer today.

European Evolution - Learn how the brewing traditions of Germany, England and Belgium have influenced brewers around the world. Discuss the evolution of style, regional influences that guided brewing techniques, and how modern brewers expand upon centuries of expertise.

Prohibition Cause and Effect - Our final chapter brings us back home to the United States. We will discuss the lasting effects of Prohibition in the United States and how brewing culture changed forever. We will taste through various styles of the rising craft beer movement and discuss challenges ahead.

Each class is $20 per person, and all attendees must be 21 or older to attend. Water and light snacks will be provided.
