Initial: F-1 visa students who are entering the U.S. directly from their home country with a new, initial Form I-20 from Hillsborough Community College. Students entering the U.S. from their home country should begin the application process EARLY! We encourage you to complete the application process at least three months prior to the term you would like to start to allow for visa processing.
Transfer: F-1 visa students who are transferring to Hillsborough Community College from another school in the U.S.
Check-In and New Student Orientation: The Check-in Date is the last date a new student can report to the Center for International Education in preparation for the upcoming term. Initial F-1 visa students may report to the College up to 30 days prior to this date (printed on their HCC I-20). All new students are encouraged to report to the CIE up to 2 to 3 weeks prior to the report date to take the required academic assessment tests, attend new student orientation and register for classes. Orientation is required for all new international students (initial and transfer students).
Documents to bring for Check-In:
- HCC I-20
- Passport with F-1 visa stamp and I-94
- Proof of health insurance valid for one year
