 Program Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for Summer 2014! HCC, in partnership with Community Colleges for International Development, Inc. and Cross-Cultural Solutions, is offering globally minded students a truly unique international volunteering opportunity in Ghana. Experience the
vibrant culture and welcoming hospitality of the people of this West African nation and make a lasting impact on the local community while earning credit for IDS 2100!

At a Glance:
5-week service learning course with an emphasis on international volunteering.
One-week field experience in Ghana, May 10th – May 17th, 2014.
Serve as a volunteer from 8 a.m. to noon in orphanages, education and the health fields.
Explore Ghana’s rich history and heritage—Learn about the slave trade era and visit holding quarters, participate in traditional West African drumming and dancing lessons, visit a batik and textile community, and play with friendly monkeys at a local sanctuary.

At a Glance

Dates: May 10 - May 17, 2014 

Eligibility: Must have completed at least 45 credits towards degree and submitted the application on or before November 5th*

*Students who already completed ENC 1101 or fulfilled their IDS credit are welcome to audit the course

Cost: Approximately $3,000*

Course Credits: IDS 2100 Global Citizenship

*Scholarships to cover half of the in-country costs will be awarded to qualified students. Students will be responsible for roundtrip airfare and half of the in-country costs, which include meals, accomodations and field trips.
