Sign Language Interpretation Courses

Students who wish to train to be an interpreter who are deaf or hard of hearing, take a 72 credit hour Associate in Science Degree Program. The Program includes 19 credits of General Education courses. This sequenced AS Degree provides training in communication models and processes, American Sign Language, Deaf Culture, interpreting ethics and hands-on training in oral and manual interpreting situations.

There is also a strong sociolinguistic component to the training, with courses in Speech pathology and Audiology, structure of ASl and the social and educational aspects of hearing loss.
