Take Opticianry Courses through the web!
With the growing popularity of Internet Learning Options for many educational institutions, the HCC Opticianry Program has strived to become a leader in On-line Opticianry Education.
Beginning in 2000 to develop a form of "distance learning" education for Opticianry students, the HCC Opticianry Program created a viable option for those who can not attend "on-campus" classes. Since its inception in 2000, the on-line section of Opticianry students has grown rapidly every year. The HCC Opticianry Program graduated it's first "fully on-line" section of 22 students in July, 2002. This fact has put the HCC Opticianry Program at the forefront of on-line education for Ophthalmic Dispensing.

WEBCT Courses
To present the course materials and information to the on-line students, the HCC Opticianry Program offers information through a "server-based" program titled WEB CT (Web Course Tools). This method allows easy retrieval of course information for the registered students of each course and is easily monitored and controlled by the Instructor of the course.

Other Distance Learning Course Materials
To better serve the Internet Based Student in gathering course information, the HCC Opticianry On-line Program provides the Students with streaming video lectures, text lectures and "course packs" to supplement the required textbooks.
Each On-line Instructor spends a great deal of time communicating with the Internet Student through emails, discussion board postings/ lectures and, if necessary, telephone conversations.
"Campus-based" students are not left out of the internet advances. The on-campus student has access to the WEB CT Courses they are registered for. This access allows them to review material from the classes they attend and to take periodic quizzes (based on course information) through the WEB CT course.
