Orientation

All new HCC students are required to attend an orientation and, if applicable, take a college placement test. The Dale Mabry Student Services New Student Orientation Goals are as follows:
- To introduce the student to the College and the campus.
- To inform the student of college policies and procedures.
- To prepare the student for his/her first registration.
- To help the student understand the difference between the Associate in Arts degree,Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science degrees.
- To interpret the Florida College Entry Level Placement Test or CPT.
- To understand the state’s and the College’s intent for course placement.
- To gain an understanding of course selection using the advising guide.
- To introduce a student on the proper way to read a course schedule and complete the course selection form.
- To introduce the student to new State guidelines regarding course repeats, free mandates, total credit hour requirements, and correct major abbreviations.
On-campus orientations are scheduled through the Test Center at the Dale Mabry Campus. You may contact the Testing Center at (813) 253-7393. Be sure to take the College Placement Test prior to orientation.
