Since moving to Florida in 1977, I had the distinct opportunity to join commercial, government and military organizations where I have used my skills in technology and learned others as well. I have experience in electronics manufacturing where I worked in hardware design, software design, and test engineer. During my work in Information Technology I performed the duties of system administrator and Information Systems security officer for a defense contractor. While living in Florida I completed my undergraduate studies at UCF where I earned a BS in Engineering Technology and graduate studies at Nova Southeastern University earning a MS in Management Information Systems.
Since 1995 when I started working in corporate technical training, and teaching at universities and colleges, I have developed and delivered training courses for LAN, WAN, Network Management Systems and telephony technologies. Some of these courses have been also delivered online and in shorter corporate training sessions (one week) where I have been able to interact directly with students worldwide. Over this period I had the opportunity to teach some of these technical courses in Spanish in Brazil, Mexico, and the United States.
As a college professor I have developed and delivered graduate level courses in Information Technology and undergraduate courses such as Open Systems I - TCP/IP, Linux, LAN troubleshooting, Introduction to Unix, Windows Server, Assembly Language programming (Intel), MS Office, MS Publisher and MS Frontpage.
Some of the industry certifications I have earned which have allowed me to teach additional technical courses include: CompTIA Linux +, Cisco CCNA, Cisco 7600, Cisco Advanced MPLS VPNs, and Cisco AON.
I look forward to a great semester and to working with you in class.
Enjoy your time at Hillsborough Community College and do well in your studies.
