Christopher W. Weeks
Christopher W. Weeks (1969), BA, University of South Florida, 1991 (Specialization in Photography). MFA, New Mexico State University, 1996 (Specializations in Photography and Digital Imaging). Joined the full-time faculty of Hillsborough Community College (Tampa, FL) in 2007 after having served in an adjunct capacity since 1999. Additionally, he has taught at St Petersburg College, University of Tampa, and University of South Florida (all also in the Tampa area) as well as New Mexico State University and Dona Ana Community College in Las Cruces, NM. His artwork deals with sardonic socio-political observations of the world around us presented in a neo-pop, graphic, comic style and has been exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the country, including venues in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Albuquerque, San Diego and Tampa. Internationally, his work has been included in "Digital Top 30", a curated exhibition of digital artwork in Cuauititlan Izcali, Mexico in March 2007 as well as "Superheroes/Supervillians" in Chiang Mai, Thailand in November/December 2009. In addition, his work has been reviewed in the NY Times (August 2007), In These Times Magazine (July 2006), and Boston’s artsMEDIA Magazine (May/June 2005) amongst other periodicals. He was awarded New Mexico State Art Research Grants in 1994 and 1995, and a Hillsborough County Individual Artist Grant in 2007. From 2005-2006 he illustrated the online comic strip "The Gargoyle" for pulp-heroes.com (now Rattrap Productions, LLC). Since then, his illustrations have appeared in Super Science Tales: Terror of the Metal Menace, Planet X: Terror from Across the Universe, Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly and other internationally distributed publications produced by Rattrap Productions, LLC . He also produces his own online graphic novel entitled, The Apostle, while also serving as a photographer for the Tampa Bay Derby Darlins Roller Derby League. His roller derby photographs have been published in both 5on5 magazine , the official magazine of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and Blood and Thunder Magazine .
