Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

  Question 1:
It is drop/add week and I want to add the course; however, the course is full. My academic advisor recommended that I contact the professor and get a permission form signed that will add me into the class.

Instructor Answer:

The course is full at this time; please watch for an opening in the class during drop/add week. Hope you are successful in finding an opening!

  Question 2:
I will be absent during the first week of classes.

Instructor Answer:

Thank you for letting me know; please be aware that you are responsible for all material missed. You should go to the website below and click on the link to your class. There you can read over the syllabus and read the lecture notes.  You should also read the text.  Also be sure to register for My Math Lab at http://www.coursecompass.com/ (there are directions for registering on the syllabus) and complete the first homework assignment.

class website: www.hccfl.edu/faculty-info/jdenson3.aspx

Please be aware that ten days after classes begin, the college withdraws all students who have not come to class, but I know that you will be here before the ten days.

  Question 3:
I can not locate the class syllabus or the lecture notes. I want to know what textbook we will be using in the course.

Instructor Answer:

The class syllabus and class notes are located at the class website. The textbook information is located on the class syllabus. Just go to the address below, and click the link to your class.

 Question 4:

I can not find the course code to register for MyMathLab.

Instructor Answer:

The course code is located on the FIRST PAGE of the syllabus in a box that says course and course code.

  Question 5:

I have been “locked out of the homework” and want permission to access the homework (and I did not get locked out of a quiz).

Instructor Answer:

You should be able to repeatedly access the homework prior to the due date without instructor permission. Come to office hours if you need help figuring out how.

The ONLY TWO cases where you can get locked out of the homework is if: one, it is past due, or two, you were locked out of a Quiz.

 Question 6:

I don't understand how the MML HW problems don't agree with the problems listed on the syllabus. I'm worried that I may be missing some of the assigned HW.

 Instructor Answer:

In the syllabus, the page immediately following the list of HW problems gives a full explanation of how the syllabus HW problems agree with the MML HW problems. Just know that if you complete all assigned HW problems in MML, then you have completed the full HW assignment. (Except section 8.7 only for trigonometry.  These HW problems are not assigned in MML; they are to be completed on paper and handed in at class).

 Question 7:

I am having technical issues with MML.

 Instructor Answer:

If you are locked out of a Quiz or HW, then just email me and I will grant you access. You are also welcome to come by my office hours and I will help you as much as possible.

Most other technical issues will require you to directly contat MML. I highly recommend that you contact MML directly at 1-800-677-6337, Monday through Friday 8AM-8PM, SUN. 5PM-12AM EST.

 Question 8:

Does the class require assignments out the book or just the online homework?

 Instructor Answer:

All of your homework is online in MyMathLab  (except section 8.7 for trigonometry).

 Question 9:

I did not/am unable to complete the HW or the Quiz by the due date. Can I please have an extension on the HW or Quiz?

 Instructor Answer:

The course syllabus states that no extensions will be given for past due Homeworks or Quizzes. If you missed a quiz, remember that you get to drop one quiz score.
