While most anyone can enroll in an online course, it takes a particular kind of person to succeed in this non-traditional learning process. Students need to be skilled at using computers and internet technology. They need to be self-motivated, able to work independently, able to meet deadlines, and comfortable without in-class teacher contact. Effective management of a student’s time is imperative to complete lessons, homework, quizzes, and chapter tests on the computer, take clear and concise notes, and take exams on the Dale Mabry Campus. Daily access to reliable computer equipment, the internet, and e-mail is necessary. 

The course syllabus will contain complete details and will be posted a few days before the first day of the semester.  The following is a basic overview of what will be expected in the course.

• Course lectures, homework, quizzes, and chapter tests will be completed by the student online and combined will count as 40% of the student's course grade.
• A proctored midterm exam and a proctored final exam will be taken by the student in the Dale Mabry Testing Center and combined will count as 60% of the student's course grade.
• This course is NOT on WebCT.
• Course content, objectives, and pre-requisites for online courses are the same as traditional (on campus) courses.
• Textbook information: Students are required to buy a MyMathLab Access Code to participate in this course.  The access code includes 1) access to MyMathLab,  2) an online copy of the textbook, 3) an online copy of the student's solutions manual, 4) a multi-media library including lecture videos, and more. The access code can be purchased alone or packaged with a regular hardcover textbook.  If you are considering getting a hardcover textbook, which I recommend, it is much less expensive to buy it as a package than to buy the access code and hardcover textbook separately.
