My name is Robert Winslow and I have been a Floridian since 1969. My formal education consisted of junior and senior high schools in Pinellas County (Seminole) and my college degrees are from Saint Petersburg Junior College (Robert D. Setzer, Rita Osborne) and the University of South Florida (Lois Golding, Robert Helps) in Music Performance.
I have taught privately, in high school magnet arts programs, and I am currently employed at Hillsborough Community College, in Ybor City where I teach Intro to Music, Theory and Sight Singing I/II/III/IV, Intro to MIDI, piano lessons, accompany many of the students and write for and direct the Jazz Band.
In the private sector I have played in the pit for Cab Calloway, Steve Allen, Jo Ann Castle, Marvin Hamlish, and have locally collaborated with Amy Collins (UT/USF), Jay Coble (USF), Barbara Prescott (SPC), Kim McCormick (USF). I have served as the principal accompanist for the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay under Dr. Robert Summer, Dr. Richard Zielinski, Dr. Duncan Couch, Dr. Joseph Holt and Dr. James Bass, played with The Florida Orchestra, have been with the Anna Maria Island Chorus and Orchestra, under the direction of Alfred Gershfeld as organist, and as a soloist. I have written three children’s musicals (musicals for an adult touring company for children). News Rock (an original libretto by Stacie Paendegrast) and Gulliver’s Travels were written for American Stage in Saint Petersburg and Stone Soup and Dragon Dumplings was commissioned by Ruth Eckerd Hall. American Stage also enlisted my help as musical director for Claudia Shear’s play (musical) “Dirty Blonde”, a provocative, scintillating look at the life of Mae West.
I am the currently the organist at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church and appear on the recital series at Saint Andrew Prebyterian Church in Sun City Center with the McCollwin Trio.
