At TBCON 2002 (included on Conference 2002nCD), the presenter demonstrated his three magic number games used to introduce computers to students at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. The demos were first programmed in Pascal in 1988. In 1994, he used ToolBook 3.0 to recreate the three programs with OpenScript for Native Deployment. Between 1996 and 2002, the programs were mapped to the Internet with HTML and JavaScript, but with limited success. Since 2002 TBCON, the presenter has had success in mapping the Native books to DHTML using Actions Editor with 8.5/8.6 Instructor, restoring the former ToolBook look. The coding problems between OpenScript and Actions Editor will be focus of this presentation including the successes including a couple of complex scripts. The coding of the Native and DHTML books will be compared. The three programs are now online in DHTML deployment, eliminating the Neuron Plug-in. The Action Editor books will be included on the conference CD or TBCON 2004 Archives for Attendees online web site as .tbk files. Online homework HTML forms are also available for student input to the instructor. These active learning games and simulations are written for online deployment in both Click2Learn's Toolbook and in simple HTML/JavaScripts code.
