I have such an appreciation
for the staff, faculty, and
students at HCC-Plant City.
Coming here has changed my
life and given me the chance
to be a leader.”
Nely Rosendo,
President
of Student Government
Association (SGA PCC), Plant
City Student Ambassador,
Member of Latin American
Student Association
Before coming to HCC-Plant City
from her home in Brooklyn, N.Y.,
Nely Rosendo had little experience
with clubs and associations. After
meeting her advisor, Student
Services Manager Sharlotte
Henderson, Nely began to uncover
her leadership skills and desire to
help other students. Soon, she was
serving as a student ambassador
and president of the Student
Government Association, as well
as participating in other special-
interest clubs. Today, Nely looks
for opportunities to serve as a role
model for other students as she
pursues her degree.
performances, academic programs,
banquets, and social gatherings such
as weddings and Quinceañeras. This
valuable addition to the Plant City area
was made possible through state funding
and donations from local businesses and
community leaders.
Outside of the Classroom
At HCC-Plant City, learning doesn’t stop
at the classroom door. The campus is
home to dozens of clubs, organizations,
and service programs that unite students
with the community and enrich their
college experience. Many clubs relate
to specific academic disciplines, such
as the Vet Tech Club and Student Nurses
Association. Others offer ways for
students to explore outside interests
such as chess, poetry, dance, and
music. The active Student Government
Association allows students to get
involved in shaping campus policies and
advocating for HCC in the community.
