Q: I am a parent and I want to pay for my child's classes before he/she loses them. However, I don't know his/her student identification number. How can I pay?

A: Payment is the responsibility of the student. Due to federal regulation, the college is unable to release information without the students' permission. Student Information Release forms can be found under the Forms link to the left.

A: Click on the Student Calendar link, on the left, for payment and refund dates.

Q: I registered for classes via Hawknet and the charges seem too high. Why?

A: In-state fees are $100.93 per credit hour and the out of state fees are $368.76 per credit hour. Any special fees associated with the class are designated by the department and the amount is listed in the HCC catalog by the course description. If you are attempting a class for the third time, you may be charged for the out of state cost of tuition. If residency is your problem, you must visit your campus Admissions and Records office for clarification.

Q: What forms of payment are acceptable?

A: Hillsborough Community College accepts cash, money order, personal checks, MasterCard and Visa. Checks must be made payable to Hillsborough Community College.

Q: My employer wants to pay for my classes. What do I need to do?

A: If all or part of your tuition is being paid by an approved external agency, you must present your current term form of authorization (letter, voucher, etc.) with the payment time frame. If your employer is not an approved agency, they will need to contact HCC's Financial Services Department to set up an agreement.

Q: If I register late, what is the charge?

A: Effective Fall registration 2004, Hillsborough Community College will implement a $25 late registration fee. This fee will apply to students whose initial registration for the term occurs on or after the first day of class. It will also apply to students who reregister after being deleted from classes for non-payment.

Q: I have Florida PrePaid College Plan. What do I have to do?

A:

Effective Spring 2011, Hillsborough Community College (HCC) will automatically apply payment for all Florida Prepaid Program students that are enrolled for Fall, Spring and/or Summer terms for the maximum amount allowed. Payment is limited to the amount of Tuition Plan credits remaining in your prepaid account.

If you have an active Florida Prepaid Account with hours remaining, payment will be automatically applied to your HCC account once you register. Payment for any charges that your Florida Pre-Paid Plan does not cover will be able to be paid in full, online at HAWKNET.

You may also pay the portion the Florida Prepaid Program does not cover at any campus Bursar

Please Note: HCC must have your Social Security Number (SSN) on record for this service to function. If you have not provided HCC with your SSN but would like to take advantage of this service, please stop by any campus Admissions Office to have your account updated.

If for any reason you do not want Hillsborough Community College to automatically bill the Florida Prepaid Program for tuition charges, please complete the information at the bottom of the Florida Prepaid Program  Opt Out Form. The deadline for opting out is the last day of drop/add period for regular 16 week terms. Please refer to the college calendar for dates.

This form is available at any Campus Bursar Office as well as on the Bursar Web-Page.

Q: I have the Florida PrePaid College Plan, why do I have to pay anything?

A: The first plans issued for the Florida PrePaid College Plan did not cover various fees per credit hour nor did it cover any special fees such as lab fees . If you have any questions regarding your Florida PrePaid program, click on the Links tab to the left and access the Florida Pre-Paid web site.

Q: When can I expect a refund if I dropped my course(s) on or before the deadline for refund?

A: Refunds will be made every Friday after the drop/add period is over. If payment was made in person at a Bursar Office then the student will be refunded on his/her HCC OneCard. If payment was made via credit card on HawkNet-Web Advisor, then the refund will be credited to his/her credit card account.

Q: Do I receive a refund if I withdraw from a course?

A: No, to receive a refund you must drop your course(s) on or before the advertised drop/add deadline. If you withdraw from a class you are still responsible for any amount due on your account.

Please note: You are responsible for payment for all classes not dropped from your schedule by the drop/add deadline listed in the Student Calendar and in the Student Catalog. Non-attendance in any course(s) will not qualify you for a waiver of your financial responsibility for the course(s). If you do not pay by the specified date and time, you may lose all of your classes. It is your responsibility to review your account with the college.
