2014 Day of Service Awardees

Hillsborough Community College, with the support of consultants retained by Marion and Associates, assisted the college with identifying traditional organizations that historically have sponsored MLK activities and recruited new organizations for the 2014 Day of Service program. In an effort to assist community organizations with their applications, a rubric was provided, in advance, to all organizations, which outlined the award selection criteria.  Over a period of two weeks, a significant number of MLK Day of Service applications were submitted from a diverse group of community organizations.

Following, an independent Review Committee comprised of HCC Diversity Council (faculty and staff) was impaneled and convened a Review meeting to evaluate the applications based on the rubric that was developed by consultants. After the results were tabulated, twenty-two (22) organizations were recommended for funding, utilizing the below listed awards selection criteria:

·         Compliance with state funding priorities for MLK Day of Service projects
·         Appropriateness of funding request/overall budget
·         Organizational status (501(c)3 or bona fide community organization); submittal of an IRS W-9 Tax Form
·         Demonstration of prior history of implementing successful MLK programs and/or activities
·         Demonstrable evidence of maximizing community participation in project/activity delineated
·         Timeliness in submission of MLK application
