Business pitch competition

 

Ready to take a plunge into the Shark Tank?


Have an idea for a business and want to compete against others for prizes?

This event provides students with the chance to pitch a business idea to a group of judges (AKA sharks) to win prizes.
Competitors in the EI@HCC  Business Pitch competitions will be selected from the top-ranked submissions received. Proposals will be evaluated based upon their uniqueness, feasibility and the ability to impact people and society. No more than 7 teams will be chosen to compete in each of the EI@HCC Business Pitch competitions.

EVENT 1: October 26, 2013

Veterans Entrepreneurship Training Symposium (VETS) Business Pitch Competition

We had many outstanding businesses present their ideas, and the effort and passion of the participants was inspirational. Thank you to our sponsors and judges that served as “sharks” on the panel. The winners of the 2013 VETS Business Pitch Competition were:
FIRST PLACE ($2,500 in prizes): Phillip Shelton, Universal Sports Technology. Universal Sports Technology provides video analysis for coaches, athletes and parents for any sport that moves. Utilizing various cameras and software known as Dartfish I make the invisible…visible.
SECOND PLACE ($1,500 in prizes): Neil Cosentino, Friendship Trail Bridge Project. An economic development initiative to transform the Friendship Trail Bridge into an iconic linear park across Tampa Bay. Revenue sources will include local businesses (restaurants etc.) opening up shop on both sides of the bridge, an eco-friendly amusement park, and a solar panel farm to generate electricity for citizens that wish to purchase panels for their consumption.
THIRD PLACE ($1,000 in prizes): Christopher Fields. Kids Place.  Kids Play is an indoor play area for children offering all of the amenities of playing outside with the benefit of being indoors.

EVENT 2: November 15, 2013 @10am DLRC106

FIRST PLACE ($2,500 in prizes): Michael and Ryan Schmidt, Kinetic Concepts, LLC. Provides application development and pitched their application, Campus Maps, an interactive mapping system of college campuses to help get to locations more efficiently.

SECOND PLACE ($1,500 in prizes): Angela Don, My Christian Box is a subscription service for Christian women struggling to find quality and meaningful Christian products that will save consumers 60-80% off of retail prices.

THIRD PLACE ($1,000 in prizes): Michael Eckley, Spree4Me is a personal shopping and delivery service and it is unique in that we will deliver any and all goods to consumers within our delivery areas.
