OFFICE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (OIT)

Our mission is to assist the community college in achieving its goals of technological excellence by providing and maintaining an integrated information technology system supporting the College's administrative and academic functions.

The Office of Information Technology will assist the community college in providing quality learning experiences, convenient access to information, access to technology tools and efficient administrative processes, with a primary focus on fostering student learning and serving the college community.

OIT, headed by Vice-president Dr. Bruce Judd, consist of Administrative Systems (DATATEL), Network & Telecommunications, Web Services & NOVUS, IT training PDWS, and Help Desk.

The College’s network is an interconnected network of local area networks (LANs) located in various buildings on the Hillsborough Community College campuses. The HCC Network is connected to FIRN (Florida Instructional Resource Network), which is then connected to the Internet.

Computing resources maintained and/or connected to the OIT network include the College’s HP UNIX Mainframe, the HCCEXCHANGE mail servers, the central HCC Web server (www.hccfl.edu), major HCC Academic servers, the machines in the OIT Labs, and the HCC Campus servers.

Services provided by the HP UNIX Mainframe include administrative System "Colleague" which includes, HRS (Human Resources System), and FAS (Financial System), and the Student System.
