HCC Student Amanda Flores Wins OAA Vision of Hope/International Vision Expo & Opticianry Student Grant and Scholarship Program
The International Vision Expo & Conference created an opportunity for Opticianry students to win a $1,000 grant to attend either International Vision Expo East in New York City or International Vision Expo West in Las Vegas in 2012. Amanda Flores, a distance learning student in Ft. Myers, was honored with this opportunity and represent HCC.
Amanda will be a correspondent documenting her experience using a video camera during the event.
To be considered, students had to submit a 1,000 word essay. Vision Expo management selected five winners amongst the applicants representing schools acknowledged in the National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS) to receive $1,000 in travel funds.
The 1,000 word essay described the student’s awareness of conferences for eye care professionals and the importance of these conferences for their career. The second dimension of the essay addressed how the student’s attendance at Vision Expo will benefit their future career. Congrats to Amanda for her hard work and to the faculty members that have encouraged her to reach for the next level in her education and professional career.
