Once again HCC’s international education program, headed by Michael Brennan, is planning several study abroad programs for the summer of 2012.
Kathryn Smith will be leading two nursing groups to Ecuador for a transcultural nursing experience. The dates are May 21-June 4 and then again June 25-July 9. Students must be nursing majors to participate.
Professor Desi Saludes from the Brandon Campus will be leading a trip to Denmark June 1-June 17. This trip emphasizes renewable energy systems along with cultural emersion, and the course is open to all students.
Professor Tom Klee will lead the trip to Belize from June 19-June 29. This trip studies both the rainforest ecosystem and the coral reef ecosystem, along with how the culture can have an impact on both. This course is open to all HCC students.
The courses all have different program costs (which include airfare, housing, and food). Michael Brennan’s office has been able to provide scholarship assistance to help get students in these programs. Assistance may be as much as half of the program cost. There are also other costs that participants incur such as tuition for a three-credit-hour class, books, immunizations, and passports. Pre-departure meetings help prepare students for their travel experience.
There are also opportunities to travel to Spain. For information on programs or to direct students toward these great opportunities, please contact Stella Layliev at extension 7009 or email@example.com
