Brandon Phi Theta Kappa chapter gears up for spring
The Brandon Campus Alpha Lambda Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society has some busy weeks ahead! We’ve been working hard to continue our goal of partnering with other PTK chapters and organizations at HCC for important community events. Here’s an overview of our spring events.

Our annual SMARTS Scholarly Summit on March 22 at the HCC Brandon Campus guided 150 students through the steps to college success. The event featured guest speakers with information relevant to student success, a tour of the Academic Success Centers on campus, and a motivational goal-setting workshop to get students excited about their academic careers. This event was part of our chapter’s Commit 2 Complete C4 project to raise awareness about college completion and help students avoid common road blocks to graduation.

Through our partnership with the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay, our PTK chapter will participate in Take Back the Night on April 21. This important event raises awareness for and speaks out against violence.

On April 26 we will join forces with HPPO, SGA, CAC and other groups from the HCC Brandon Campus to participate in Relay for Life at Brandon High School.

Other April events for our chapter include an International Convention in San Jose, Cal., and community road clean ups.
