More than 75 administrators, faculty, staff, family, and friends gathered on May 11 in the Brandon Conference Center to honor Ellen Cangi, dean of academic affairs for the Brandon Campus, upon the occasion of her retirement.
Dean Cangi began her stint at HCC in February 2002. She looks back with gratefulness upon her ten years of service here as an assistant dean and dean of academic affairs. One of her fondest memories was helping Brandon Campus President Carlos Soto set up the satellite campus in Ruskin that later became the HCC’s SouthShore Campus.
The retirement party featured refreshments, gifts, and a special cake. Several guests stood up and shared well wishes and stories about Dean Cangi. Her husband Joe and son Mike were also in attendance. As she looks to the future, Dean Cangi’s life after retirement will be anything but dull.
“I plan to continue writing my book on Henry Flagler,” she says. “History is my background and my passion. I have an editor, and I’m looking forward to having more time to write.”
We wish Dean Cangi the best and offer thanks for her many years of service.
