For the months of February and March, the Dale Mabry CAC is sponsoring a shoe donation drive for Shoes for the Cure. Shoes for the Cure is a recycling organization committed to gathering new or used shoes and repairing them for the needy or recycling them for materials that resurface athletic tracks, tennis courts, or playgrounds. Collection bins are set up across campus.
Last fall, the Dale Mabry CAC began a series of donation drives to community organizations in need of specific items. Faculty and Staff members have been encouraged to clean out their garages and homes to help with this community outreach project.
Below is a list of past recipients:
• The Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Dale Mabry employees responded generously to requests for blankets, beds, toys, scratching posts, and the like.
• Florida Center for Survivors of Torture. Gathered household items to help set up new homes for clients of the organization.
• Dress for Success, an organization dedicated to helping women prepare and dress for job interviews. Again, the staff and faculty of Dale Mabry responded generously, giving over 10 boxes of slightly worn, fashionable business clothing and accessories.
• Animal Based Charities, an organization that does fund raising to help various pet adoption and rescue organizations throughout the Bay area. We asked for CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, old records or anything else that might be appropriate for Animal Based Charities to sell in their Thrift Sore.
