Pirates and partiers flooded the mouth of the Hillsborough River alongside HCC’s Davis Islands offices as the HCC Foundation hosted the annual Gasparilla Pirate Invasion Reception on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Each year, The HCC Foundation event recognizes donors of $1,000 or more for their major support of students and college projects. “It is always great fun to watch the flotilla from the 8th floor while enjoying great food and conversation,” said Jeneice Sorrentino, librarian at the Ybor City Campus. “I always look forward to this annual event. I donate to the Foundation for a serious reason, and this is a fun ‘thank you’ that I thoroughly enjoy!”

This year’s Gasparilla Pirate Invasion Reception was sponsored by Long & Associates, Architects/Engineers, Inc., and Holmes Hepner & Associates, Architects. More than 100 donors, community supporters, friends, alumni, and guests joined HCC leadership and Foundation board members to celebrate Gasparilla and view the pirate flotilla invasion of Tampa Bay from the advantageous eighth floor perch of HCC’s administrative office building.
