On February 9th, SGA hosted the Reality Check Game Show. Students participated as individuals or on a team as they played to win some extra cash. Giselle Gonzalez said, “Students were very enthusiastic, they went crazy when they got the answer right, just as they did when they got it wrong.” So you can imagine how loud they got with all of the excitement. Our lovely Vet Tech students took most of those winnings!
On February 15th, SGA offered fifteen students a chance to visit the Chihuly Collection and the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. Those that went on the trip got to learn about Dale Chihuly’s beautiful glass sculptures and even got to witness the process of live glass blowing. Students also toured through Dali’s greatest works displayed at the Dali Museum of St. Pete.
On the last day of February, SGA put together the Battle of the Sexes - another game show style event, but this time it was even more competitive - girls vs. guys! MTV’s Syrus was the MC for the event – having the sexes battle it out in multiple competitions. The ladies took a few events (like ice cream eating), but in the end the gentlemen won! It was a great show to participate AND watch!
Then on March 4th, students got the chance to participate in the Strawberry Parade. Dr. Clay and students got the opportunity to ride on our float or walk representing HCC. The weather was perfect this day, and students had a lot of fun.
There’s always something going on, just take the time to stop and look at the plasma screens and flyers for information on upcoming events. You can always stop by the SGA office in the Student Center (re-names the Hawk’s Nest) to find out more information! Are you missing out?
