Ericka Dunlap, Miss America 2004 and Miss Florida 2003, visited the HCC SouthShore Campus on Wednesday, February 20 to speak to students about the importance of Black History Month. As the first black Miss Florida in history, Ericka offered an interesting perspective on the legacies of both black and white Americans who have contributed to the Civil Rights Movement. She also gave advice to students on pursuing their dreams and achieving success in life.
"Show up and go after your dreams," said Ericka. "Let these stories inspire you to be even better and do more."
This SGA-sponsored event also featured a coffee cart and delicious cupcakes, which were hits with HCC-SouthShore students.
