Area middle school students glimpse college life at HCC SouthShore
Students from the Shields Middle School AVID program toured the HCC SouthShore Campus in March to get an up close and personal view of college life. Enrollment Development Coordinator Sheila McCants led the tour through classrooms, the library, student lounge and student services, sharing words of wisdom along the way.

SGA coordinator Raul Lozano spoke with the students about all the opportunities HCC students have, such as involvement with student government, exciting events, interesting speakers, and even travel to other cities and states through the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

“You have to work hard to be in PTK,” Lozano said. “But it’s worth it when you get to expand your mind and experiences by traveling to places like Washington, D.C.”

Many of the students seemed to make a connection with HCC-SouthShore, and hopefully we’ll see them on campus in the future.
