Difference between drop and withdrawal
"Dropping" a course means that BEFORE the drop/add deadline shown on the HCC academic calendar (or your course schedule) you took action to remove the course from your schedule. You either 1) logged into your HawkNet account and dropped the course, or 2) met with an advisor and requested that the course be removed from your schedule. You will not be charged for this course. The course will not show up on your transcript and is not an attempt for the course. Courses that are not 16 weeks long have a shorter drop/add deadline. Please check your course online for the drop/add deadline. NOTE: Contact Financial Aid before dropping a course so they can advise you if it will affect your Financial Aid eligibility. If you are sponsored, this may affect the amount paid by your sponsor.
"Withdrawing" from a course means that you registered for the course and it was still on your schedule AFTER the drop/add deadline shown on the HCC academic calendar. You did not take action to remove it from your schedule. Non-attendance is considered a withdrawal. Being removed by a teacher for non-attendance is considered a withdrawal. You are responsible for full payment of all courses that are considered withdrawals. Your transcript will reflect the course as an attempt. This may or may not affect your Financial Aid eligibility. If you are sponsored, this may affect the amount paid by your sponsor.

Late Registration Fee
The $25 late registration fee applies when initial registration for the term occurs on or after the first day of class. It also applies when reregistering after being deregistered from classes for non-payment.
There are various exemptions of tuition and/or fees set by the State of Florida.
- Children in custody of DCF
- Dual enrollment
- Custody of a relative
- Welfare transition
There are various waivers of tuition and/or fees set by the State of Florida.
