Narrative/Justification for Judgment of Compliance

Hillsborough Community College ensures and demonstrates that the length of each degree program is appropriate from an external and internal perspective.  Externally, program lengths are dictated by the State of Florida Curricula Frameworks and supported by accreditation agencies appropriate to each discipline. HCC offers Associate in Art (AA), Associate in Science (AS), and Associate in Applied Sciences (AAS) degree programs that comply with the Florida Department of Education (DOE), the Institution’s Academic Affairs Committee, and various accreditation organizations.  (State Board of Education Administrative Rules 6A-10.024 Articulation between Universities, Community Colleges and School Districts; Florida Department of Education Curricula Frameworks; Accreditation Agencies for AS/AAS Programs; Associate Degree Program Types and Lengths).

Internally, HCC provides parameters for the adding of programs and courses based on the Florida Curricula Frameworks and accreditation agencies through its Academic Affairs Committee, the Academic Affairs Committee Handbook, and the HCC Catalog.

Additionally, HCC’s Health Sciences programs are accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CHEA) of the American Medical Association.  These programs are also reviewed on a regular schedule to ensure adherence to the accrediting agencies’ program length and standards requirements (Listing of Health and Wellness Programs’ Accreditation Schedule).
