Hillsborough Community College Student Services and Enrollment Management

Hillsborough Community College
Spring 2010

The Access to Higher Education/College Readiness Initiative provides high school juniors the opportunity to take the College Placement Test (CPT) offered at Hillsborough Community College. The CPT is used to determine your readiness for college level courses. Your CPT examination results will be shared with the Hillsborough County School District. Your high school will provide you with guidance toward which courses will best prepare you for starting college.

During your senior year the school district will offer Mathematics for College Success which is equivalent to HCC’s MAT 0024 Elementary Algebra and Mathematics for College Readiness equivalent to HCC’s MAT 1033 Intermediate Algebra. The chart below illustrates the differences between these course options.

This is an excellent opportunity to get a jump start on your college education. Please note that there is no cost associated with the CPT test or the courses offered by the school district.
