Financial Aid Grants
Grants are considered "gift aid" and do not have to be repaid.
  • Pell Grant
    This grant, based upon financial need, does not have to be repaid. Awards range from $400 to approximately $5,550 per year. A valid Student Aid Report (SAR) must be submitted to the campus financial aid office. Appropriate income tax returns as well as HCC verification forms must be submitted if the SAR indicates that the student’s application has been selected for verification.
  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
    This is a grant based upon exceptional financial need that does not have to be repaid. Amount $1,200 per year.
  • Florida First Generation Matching Grant
    The 2006 Florida Legislature created Section 1009.701 of the Florida Statues, First Generation Matching Grant Program.  This is a need-based program that provides financial aid funds to Florida undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and whose parents have not earned a baccalaureate degree.  Click here to see details regarding applying, eligibility, and awarding of this program.

Applying for a Pell Grant

A. FAFSA

  • Complete the on-line Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA).
  • Make Sure HCC's School Code is listed, (007870) on your Application.
  • Transmit your FAFSA to the Department of Education-Central Processing System.
  • Within 10 days from the date you transmit your application, HCC and you will receive the results electronically from the Department of Education.

B. Agreement and Acknowledge Form

  • All students are required to complete and submit the Student Agreement and Acknowledgement Form.
  • Print, complete, and transmit the Student Agreement and Acknowledgement Form to your campus Financial Aid Office.

C. Forms Required for Verification
If you are notified from the financial aid office to submit one or more of the forms below, you are able to download them instead of waiting in line to pick up the form from the campus financial aid office.

D. Forms that you must pick up from your campus Financial Aid Office

  • Professional Judgement Forms (Request for Pell-Grant analysis)
  • Appeals for Reinstatement (for students on Standards of Progress Suspension)
  • Dependency Overrides (for students with extenuating circumstances regarding parental status
