 2011- 2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid

• You may begin processing your 2011-2012 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on January 2, 2011 online by accessing the Department of Education’s FAFSA application website.  Check out the Five Minute FAFSA Video to find out what the FAFSA is all about.
• Make sure your (and parent’s if required) 2010 Federal Tax Returns are completed prior to completing the FAFSA application.
• Make sure you have a PIN (Personal Identification Number).  You will need a PIN access number in order to electronically sign your application online.  You may request a PIN number by accessing the Federal Student Aid PIN Website.
• Follow the instructions indicated on the FAFSA website. Information regarding the type of computer, modem, and Internet software is also provided.
• In order for HCC to receive your FAFSA results, please provide HCC’s school code:  007870.

Important Priority Due Dates 

COMPLETE THE FAFSA APPLICATION NO LATER THAN 5 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DATES STATED BELOW.  To ensure that your financial aid file is processed prior to the start of classes, we strongly recommend that you submit your FAFSA at least 5 weeks before the dates listed below. Once we receive your FAFSA, you must check your HCC Hawkmail email account and WebAdvisor for information regarding any additional documents that must be submitted. 

In order to be awarded financial aid prior to the start of classes, all requested documents must also be submitted by the dates listed below. Failure to submit all required documents before the dates listed below, will result in a delay. We cannot guarantee that your financial aid will be processed prior to the start of classes if you do not submit everything prior to the dates listed below.         

Fall 2011 - June 1, 2011

Spring 2012 - Nov. 1, 2011

Summer 2012 - April 2, 2012

• For expeditious service, you can check the status of your Financial Aid or for financial aid forms outstanding; go to the college’s HawkNet website. You will use the same user I.D. and password that you use to log on for on-line registration.
• Correspondences from District Financial Aid Office are sent to students through their HCC Hawknet email accounts. Students should check their Hawknet email accounts weekly.
