Steps to Apply

Public School


The first step to apply is to see your high school guidance counselor to discuss this college enrollment opportunity. You should discuss your eligibility to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program and determine if testing is required. Your counselor will help you in selecting appropriate classes and managing your high school schedule. You may only register for courses approved by your high school. It is the responsibility of the student and high school to ensure that graduation requirements are met.
Please note:  Required textbooks are provided at no cost to the student.  However, the student is responsible for textbook affiliated costs for licensing fees or electronic media access which are password protected or are one-time access codes and cannot be returned to the district as its property for reissue to another student.

The application and all required documentation must be on file for the application to be considered.

Private School

Private school students who wish to apply to the Dual Enrollment Program must be enrolled in a private school that is in compliance with FS 1002.42 and 1003.43 and has an articulation agreement on file with Hillsborough Community College. While tuition, matriculation fees, and lab fees are waived, the student is responsible for purchase of their textbooks.

You should discuss your eligibility to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program and determine if testing is required. Home School


Home school students that are enrolled in a home education program and are registered with the Hillsborough County Home Education Office and are in compliance with F.S. 1002.41 are eligible to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program.

The parent is considered to be the Home School Program Official and is responsible for making sure the student takes the appropriate courses to complete a high school education.

The application and all required documentation must be on file for the application to be considered.

Applicants outside of Hillsborough County

Most out of district applicants need to provide two documents in addition to the HCC application, program forms and test scores to have a complete application package. First, there must be a letter from the community college that serves that student's district that approves of the student applying to the Dual Enrollment Program at Hillsborough Community College. Second, if a public school student, there must be a letter from a county school district official authorizing the student to enroll in the Dual Enrollment Program at HCC. Without these documents, we cannot accept an application.

Students admitted from out of district are responsible for knowing the classes and credits that they need for high school graduation.
