| NotetakerMajor Function:
To provide high-quality notes for disabled students eligible for this accommodation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, organized, clear and informative notes from class lectures.
- Maintain neat, legible handwriting.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
- Complete Notetaker time sheets accurately after each class worked, review time sheets with assigned students, and obtain signatures each pay period; indicate all student no-shows, late-cancels and tardiness on time sheets.
- Notify our department in advance of any anticipated absence so alternate arrangements can be made.
Position Details:
- Part-time
- No benefits
- We have class schedules of the students who need notetakers. You can pick from that schedule the most convenient time to take notes.
- We provide carbon paper that you give to the students you are taking notes for after class is over.
ReaderMajor Function:
Read class tests, course text, and other related course materials for disabled students eligible for this accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Read test questions and/or answers and course material verbatim (without changing or adding words).
- Refrain from providing clues or cues which may prompt or serve as hints to answers, and do not assist the test-taker in selecting an answer.
- Patience and understanding that the test-taker may need to have many test questions and/or answers repeated several times.
- Complete Reader time sheets accurately after each reading assignment, review time sheets with assigned students and obtain signatures each pay period.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend college-level material and concepts.
- Familiarity with the words, terms, symbols or signs that are specific to the test/text content.
- A strong, clear, steady, reading voice with good word pronunciation.
- Ability to keep the expression on your face neutral when reading tests and to keep from looking at, smiling at, or frowning at a test-taker to indicate approval or disapproval.
