It's the first day of March, spring is right around the corner and it's time for the 2013 Florida Legislative Session to start. Check out page 13 of CURRENT for a special issue of Perception.In addition, Region meetings and Commission meetings are gearing up to bring you great professional development, networking time with colleagues, and opportunities for you to submit proposals to share your knowledge with others. Check out the current list of calls for proposals for upcoming conferences.We hope you are enjoying the new look and feel of the AFC Website. We are making improvements every day. See the end of this blast for information on how to retrieve your username and password and how to edit your membership profile. Then log-on and take a look around our new Online Community.

Region IV Service Project:

Support Our Troops - We are asking AFC members across the state to let us know if you have a family member(s) that are overseas, to let us know their name and exact address of the person or persons so that we may send them a care package. Also, if you would like to include a photo of your loved one, we will have a slide show honoring all your loved ones playing during the luncheon. Call for Proposals:

Faculty Commission 2013 Professor of the Year - Deadline extended to March 15, 2013

Healthcare Education Commission 2013 Exemplary Practice Award - Deadline is April 19, 2013

Membership Dues Increase:

At the 63rd AFC Annual Convention’s Assembly of Delegates meeting, held on Friday, November 2, 2012, chapter delegates voted to approve the proposed membership dues increase as listed below. In upcoming weeks, you will receive information on how we will implement the increase once the current membership year ends on June 30, 2013. Adjunct, Part-Time, Retiree, Life Retiree, and the pay scale category of $30,000 or less were not affected by this increase.
Dues will increase as follows:

  • Annual earnings less than $30,000 - $35.00 (no change)
  • Al earnings between $30,000 and $75,000 - $45.00
  • Annual earnings between $75,000 and $100,000 - $55.00
  • Annual earnings equal to or greater than $100,000 - $70.00
  • College presidents’ dues - $275.00
