  • Cancellation: Huck Finn and Hash Tags: A Explanation of Digital Citizenship, 8:30 am - 9:20 am - Westshore 2
  • Addition: Metacognitive Language in Grammar Instruction: Does "a rose / By any other word...smell as sweet?"  - Chuck McDonnell. This presentation will share some primary classroom research done on the seven common grammar errors, explore the difficulties students encounter as a result of teacher "naming" of these errors, and suggest ideas for framing a common departmental language for teachers, and a recognition tool for students. The central purpose of the presentation is to demonstrate the necessity of a shared metacognitive language for intervention in student learning difficulties. When the "names" of the errors vary from teacher to teacher, they do not transfer to the next course. Saturday, 9:30 am - 10:20 am, WestShore 5
