Dr. Merchant holds a B.S. degree from Florida State University, a Masters Degree in Education from University of South Florida, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Mercer University.  She has been an educator for more than twenty years and a practicing attorney for seven years.    Adjunct instructors in the paralegal program are required to hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited university or college.  Many of these instructors are practicing attorneys or judges within the surrounding legal community who bring real-life experiences to their classroom teaching.
